
Marjorie Feinstein-Whittaker is the founder and principal of
The Whittaker Group. An experienced speech-language pathologist,
she brings over twenty years of expertise to her individualized,
flexible and comprehensive programs. She is known for her
ability to bring out the best in her clients through her
enthusiasm, creativity and personal attention.
PUBLICATIONS
Marjorie Feinstein-Whittaker and Lynda Katz Wilner are regular
(bimonthly) contributing guest columnists to the India New
England Newspaper.
Recent articles include, You say “potato,” I
say “potahto.” Accent trainer’s view (
October 1-15, 2006); Put your best speech forward during
interview process (February 16-28, 2007) and American Weddings
101: What you need to know (March 1-15, 2007). Marjorie and
Lynda were also mentioned in an India New England article
entitled, South Asians walk the walk, but can they talk the
talk? in the Feb. 16-28, 2007 issue.
In the fall of 2006, Ms. Feinstein-Whittaker and Lynda Katz
Wilner of Succesfully-Speaking in Maryland authored and published RULES (Rules
for Using Linguistic Elements of Speech): A Resource and
Interactive
Workbook.
Ms. Feinstein-Whittaker and Lorna D. Sikorski published
a 2-volume workbook and audio cd series called, MIAE – Mastering
Idioms of American English in 2005.
An article from the accent trainer’s perspective,
written by Lynda Katz Wilner and Ms. Feinstein-Whittaker
was published in the October 1-15 2006 edition of the India
New England newspaper.
In an article entitled, “Speaking up for Yourself,” in
the April-June 2005 isssue of Business Spotlight, Ms. Feinstein-
Whittaker was featured. This German, quarterly publication
is designed to help business people use English for international
communication.
PRESENTATIONS
At the 2006 American Speech-language-Hearing Association’s
national convention in Miami, Lynda Katz Wilner, Marjorie
Feinstein-Whittaker and Lorna D. Sikorski, presented a workshop
on, “Designing ‘Culture-Savvy’ Accent Training
for Medical Professionals.”
Lynda Katz Wilner, Marjorie Feinstein-Whittaker and Lorna
D. Sikorski presented a workshop entitled, “Integrating
Language, Accent and Culture in the Medical Community,” at
the 2005 ASHA national convention in San Diego, CA.
EDUCATION
Ms. Feinstein-Whittaker received her Master’s Degree
from Boston University. She is a member of the American Speech-language-Hearing
Association and is licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
She is also a member of TESOL,
with a particular interest in the English for Specific Purposes
division. She served on the Board of the
Corporate Speech Pathology Network (CORSPAN) as treasurer
for 2005 and remains a current member.
